India-bound Volkswagen T-Roc facelift unveiled

– Renewed exterior along with a revised cabin

– Offered in three versions globally

Volkswagen has given the T-Roc SUV its first mid-life update. And like most Volkswagen updates, the changes are subtle yet classy and refined. The MY2022 Volkswagen T-Roc has been updated with fresh exterior styling as well as a slightly revised interior with new features.

While the T-Roc’s unique silhouette has not been affected, the front fascia now features a redesigned front grille with sharper LED headlights. Further down, the bumper has been reworked with black inserts, which now feature vertically stacked LED fog lights. DRLs, too, have moved up from the bumper béo the headlights. However, a bit of blue like the new LED strip on the front grille, the matrix headlights and the dynamic turn signals you see here are available as options.

Along with the standard T-Roc, the global SUV has been revealed two more specifications – the sporty T-Roc R and the T-Roc Cabriolet. The previous R version featured sporty exterior and interior elements while the Cabriolet is a two-door version with a fabric soft top, an electric three-layer that can open in less than 9 seconds.

Abroad, the T-Roc may have multiple powertrain options. There are three TSI petrol engines – 1.0 liter (109 hp), 1.5 liter (148 hp) and 2.0 liter (188 hp). Meanwhile, oil burner derivatives include a 2.0-litre engine offered in two states of tune – 114bhp and 148bhp.

For India, Volkswagen retails the T-Roc as a complete model and ships it in a second batch in March 2021 at a revised price of Rs 21.35 lakh (factory price). In six months, the automaker has sold off its inventory and there is no news of a third batch being imported béo Indian shores. However, the SUV in the refreshed avatar will be an attractive proposition for the Indian market.
