Overview

Hyundai Sonata vs Skoda Superb

Petroleum energy. These may be luxury barges, but with good petrol engines and smooth shifting manual transmissions, they can also be fun. Here’s how they compare.

Want something spacious, well-equipped and for over Rs 20, still value for money? Your best bet would be the Skoda Superb. We also recommended the Passat, but then it costs a little more and only comes with a diesel engine. We agree with the growing price disparity between petrol and diesel and the large size of these cars, diesel should be the default choice. But what about running smoothly and quietly at idle; auxiliary engine revolutions; and sweet moans that make you itch?

For all of this, you need a gasoline, and not just any gasoline, but a turbocharger; One of the great things that comes with it. However, there is now a newer option on the market. It may be a Hyundai, but it promises béo match the Superb in every way, and sometimes even better. We decided béo find out if the new Sonata had what it took béo beat the Skoda Superb.

Exterior & Interior

Interior of Hyundai Sonata

The original interior looks more appealing and certainly looks more modern. However, the quality is not as good as the Superb and also has fewer devices.

Exterior Hyundai Sonata

The Sonata rolls more than the Superb, and the steering isn’t great either.

There’s one thing that Hyundai definitely does better and that’s flashy looks. It screams price and attention almost matching the Honda Accord. However, it’s more modern and eye-catching than the quirky looking Superb.

It is also more proportionately sized than the Skoda with a long hood, flowing glass doors and a short boot. The Sonata appears béo be sculpted from a single piece of metal while the Superb looks rather disjointed.

Inside, too, the Sonata is more colorful. Unlike Skoda which uses a slab design philosophy across the board including the center console, air vents or even the general dashboard layout, the Sonata is all about trendy shapes. So it looks more popular and attractive.

However, the Hyundai is not well equipped. It doesn’t have a sunroof or memory seats or even a one-touch up/down operation for all the windows. There is no touchscreen audio or a suitable trip computer on board. Furthermore, the Hyundai lacks the luxury of the Skoda. Plastic materials, finishes and even operability are more like Verna than a few notch higher. Space is another area where Superb is still the car béo beat. It may not have as much headroom or shoulder space compared béo the Sonata, but usable knee space and even boot space is better.

Skoda's Great Interior

The interior is more conventional but the quality and fit and finish are better. The watch is also simple but contains a comprehensive and useful calculator for the trip.

Skoda great exterior

Great corners are flat and easier béo exercise freedoms. The steering feel is also better on the Skoda.

Hyundai though has more comfortable seats, especially in the back. In fact, the Hyundai is great if you want a car béo be driven around. A great addition béo our awful summer days. Rear-seat passengers can control the sound on the center armrest next béo a set of cup holders. What it can do with though, is sunshades; something standard on the Superb.

However, as the straights end and the corners begin béo come at you at breakneck speed, the Sonata begins béo back away. It just doesn’t have the dynamic power of Skoda. The steering lacks response compared béo the Superb’s unit, and it also rolls more. So when you turn a corner in Skoda, you will go faster and more aggressively because the car will stabilize first. It may not be understood yet, but you always feel connected.

On the Hyundai, that connection is missing. It’s more of a guessing game and if you get in too nóng, you’ll guess less and pray more. Meanwhile, Sonata feels nervous and you just don’t want béo be không tính phí of it.

Even so, the ride quality on the Hyundai is slightly better. It is quieter and more stable at slower speeds. You can still feel the basic stiffness béo ride quality, but it’s always comfortable. The horrid walls we didn’t like on the Verna don’t either, and the Sonata handles the twists and turns well; it gets worse with load. The Superb’s ride is also resolved stably, and it has less sag even when loaded. However, one can feel and hear the system shutdown more clearly on the Skoda.

Engine & Gearbox

Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai Sonata The 201bhp 2.4-litre engine is naturally aspirated and sports direct injection.

Also standard on the petrol Superb is a lovely engine. The 1.8-liter engine is turbocharged and smooth. It’s also finely tuned and spins fast. Furthermore, it is so enjoyable in the upper end of the rpm range that it is nearly impossible not béo hit the red line in each gear. And when you do, it’s very rewarding. 0-100kmph takes nine seconds and it also reaches a top speed of over 200kmph in a very quick time. Bự make things even sweeter, the 6-speed manual box is a joy béo use; it’s sleek and has short, precise throws.

    Amazing Skoda

Amazing Skoda The turbocharged 1.8-liter engine is a delight for those who love béo drive.

However, don’t give up on the new Sonata after reading such rave reviews for Awesome, because the Sonata is no less. It comes with a larger, 2.4-liter engine. Unlike the Superb, this engine is naturally aspirated, but still manages béo develop a little more than 200bhp of maximum power compared béo the 160bhp found on the Skoda. On the road that translates béo a 0-100 km/h time slightly faster than Top Speed and a bit higher. The transmission is once again right there in terms of shifting quality and in the end we would say that both powertrains are completely on par.
