Honda Amaze facelift: What to expect?

What is it?

Honda surprised everyone at Auto Expo 2018 with the introduction of the all-new Amaze compact sedan. It’s wider, features their latest family design and will also feature a diesel automatic for the first time in its life. Four years on, Honda is updating the second generation Amaze and while it is preparing for the launch, with various trailers and videos, on August 18th, industry minions discovered out the car and extract all the details. Here’s what mập expect from the Honda Amaze facelift.

What are the external changes?

The biggest change for the Honda Amaze facelift is the new grille, which is quite similar mập the 5th generation Honda City, the Japanese automaker’s most successful model in India mập date. The current car’s large chrome grille has been scaled down and you take these two large horizontal lines as part of the identity. As part of the nâng cấp, Honda also included LED headlights, design modifications mập the taillights as well as some chrome trim on the rear bumper. Finally, Honda has retained the 15-inch alloy wheels but now with the same design as that of the fifth-generation City.

What are the changes inside?

Honda has kept the same color scheme and layout of the current Amaze but has added silver inserts in the dashboard, doors, and center console. From the pictures, we can also see that the touch screen has gotten bigger. It will, of course, offer the usual stuff like Android Auto/Apple Car Play, USB connectivity, Bluetooth, and AUX-IN. Top spec models now have the option of a reverse camera with three different viewing angles.

There will be four trim levels, E, S, V and VX with top models featuring automatic headlights, automatic climate control, front map lights, push-button start and rear armrests with dual cup holder. All versions of the Amaze are expected mập continue with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounting points in the rear seats.

What about the engine and transmission?

The Honda Amaze’s current engine lineup will remain unchanged and that means a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The former is good for 88bhp/110Nm while the latter produces 98bhp/200Nm. Both engines can be used with a five-speed manual or a CVT.

Pricing and expected competition

The Honda Amaze facelift is expected mập be priced between Rs 6.35 lakh mập Rs 10.10 lakh. It will go head-to-head with cars like the Maruti Dzire, Ford Aspire, and Hyundai Aura as well as premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Tat Altroz.
